Program Assistant (Indonesia)
We’re looking for an Indonesia Program Assistant for Asia Justice and Rights or AJAR (based in Jakarta, Indonesia)
About the Role
AJAR is a regional human rights organization working to increase the capacity of local and national organizations to effectively fight impunity. We contribute to building cultures based on accountability, justice, and a willingness to learn from the root causes of mass human rights violations in Asia and the Pacific region.
AJAR aspires to be a learning organization, linking organizations across the region and beyond, and sharing lessons, enabling them to become more effective promoters and defenders of human rights. The organization has special interest in working with survivors of gross human rights violations, particularly women.
To advance the realization of AJAR’s aims and objectives, the organization is seeking an Indonesia Program Assistant. The Assistant will work in assisting the regional team unit in implementing the Indonesia program on developing content for advocacy at the national level, particularly relating to the human rights situation in Papua. The assistant will work in close collaboration with the Indonesia Team, and will be managed on a day-to-day basis by, and reporting to the Indonesia Program Manager.
Location
The Program Assistant will be based in Jakarta. However, in response to the spike in COVID-19 cases, a temporary “Work from Home” policy is currently being applied, which will be reviewed on a weekly basis.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Together with the Program Officer and Program Manager, use management tools (work plans, program meetings, budgets, monitoring and evaluation, reports etc.) to ensure timely implementation of the Indonesia program;
- Assist with the administrative and financial aspects of AJAR’s partners, including providing inputs to reports, as required;
- Support the Indonesia team, by preparing field trips and training courses, producing tools and campaign materials, and so on.

Skills and Experience Required:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, a good team player, and a willingness to work in a diverse team;
Willing and able to work with grassroots communities; - A passion for the advancement of universal human rights, and the desire for a more just and equal world;
Patience, and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines; - Good English language skills, both spoken and written;
- Familiar with basic excel programs, and administration skills;
- Familiar with networking, advocacy, and working with CSOs.
Remuneration:
- The position starts as soon as possible.
- Compensation will be commensurate with Indonesian rates.

System Administrator
We’re looking for a System Administrator Consultant for Asia Justice and Rights or AJAR (working remotely)
About the Role
AJAR is a regional human rights organization working to increase the capacity of local and national organizations to effectively fight impunity. We contribute to building cultures based on accountability, justice, and a willingness to learn from the root causes of mass human rights violations in Asia and the Pacific region.
We rely heavily on IT systems to support our work with partners and survivors. We are seeking an experienced system administrator, eager to help with the maintenance, configuration, and operation of computer systems and servers. The successful candidate will help protect our information, systems and assets, provide training to our staff, and proactively resolve problems with computer and server systems, limiting disruptions to work.
The system administrator will report to the Communications’ Coordinator, and work in close collaboration with the Communications Team to assist with daily project management, infrastructure maintenance, digital security, and website upgrades.
Objectives of the Role
Maintain and ensure the smooth running of essential IT infrastructure and networks, including data center and servers, operating systems, security tools, applications, and email systems.
Communicate with staff and other parties to update them on the status of platforms and tools, activities, and achievements.
Ensure digital safety and security practices adhere to AJAR’s internal security policy.
